PvP: The Animated Series

From Scott Kurtz's blog: It is with great pride that we announce the first season of PvP: The Animated Series. Starting in February 2007, PvP will be offered as an animated feature via the Web. Each month, via a subscription service, we’ll be delivering a new 4-6 minute episode. This is not your typical flash animation. These are traditionally 2D animated with professional voice actors all collaborating to bring the staff of PVP magazine to life for the first time.

The series premieres February 1, 2007. If you sign up between now and January 1, a year long subscription only costs you $19.95. Come 2007, a year-long subscription is $29.95 so be sure to sign up now and get the better deal.

Miami cartoonist update

[NBC] The cartoonist who allegedly stormed the Miami Herald building downtown on Friday remains in custody.

A judge ordered Saturday that Jose Varela, 56, be held until experts can determine whether he is mentally stable.

Varela is accused of storming one of the nation's largest newspapers around 11:30 a.m. Friday dressed in police attire and holding a knife and fake machine gun.

According to the New York Times, he claimed to be upset about biased coverage of Cuban-Americans in both El Nuevo Herald and its sister paper, The Miami Herald.

Dr. Strange: The Oath (2 of 5)

I have to apologize. I'm awfully behind on my comics reading. In any event, I'm finally getting around to the second installment of Dr. Strange: The Oath. I'm still heavily into this series. It is easily one of the best books the Big M has to offer.

Anyway, the magical serum that stands at the center of the plot is named for a mystic named OTKID the OMNIPOTENT. I can't imagine I'm the first to realize this, but OTKID is an anagram for DITKO. It's an touch that works arm-in-arm with the inking of the series to pay loving tribute to a comics master.
