EVIL INC: WHEN WORLDS COLLIDE -- AVAILABLE NOW!!

Wednesday, September 12, 2012 - 12:00 AM

I'm super-thrilled to announce that I've opened up online sales of the newest Evil Inc book, "Evil Inc: When Worlds Collide."

This book was premiered at Baltimore Comic Con last weekend to rave reviews, and I can't wait for you guys to get a copy of your own. As always, you have a number of options when you visit the store:

• You can buy the book, straight-up, as-is, and I'll sign it and send it to you as quickly as possible with my heartfelt thanks for supporting an independent cartoonist.
• You can buy an Artist Edition of the book for a few bucks more. That means I'll draw an original illustration inside the book just for you. I will only do 250 Artist Edition books, so this will be a numbered, limited set of books. You can see some examples of previous Artist Edition sketches below. Use the Note to Merchant feature during checkout to suggest a character for me to put in your book.
• If you want all seven Evil Inc books, I'll give you the first one ("Evil Inc Annual Report, Vol. 1") for free.
• You can also get an Artist Edition of "When Worlds Collide," along with all of the others, and you'll get Volume One free.
• And finally, I have a very special price if you want Artist Edition copies of each of the seven Evil Inc graphic novels.

All of the options for Evil Inc: When Worlds Collide can be found here.

Click on the thumbnails to see these Artist Edition sketches in their full-sized goodness.

Evil Inc graphic novels

If you've read the previous graphic novels, you know that it's a step further than the typical collection of comic strips. Instead, I take the individual panels of the daily strips and lay out comic-book-style pages, adding completely new panels and other content to make the reading process a new, smooth narrative experience.

And even if you have read the previous Evil Inc graphic novels, you'll find this one is the most polished one yet. I've added a new "splash page"-inspired intro panel at the start of each chapter. Even the narration boxes and story transitions have an updated approach.

-- All of which is kinda hard to describe, but easy to show off. So, without further ado, here's a special PDF download (37 MB) to read a couple chapters and see what I'm talking about.

Want more preview? You can download the September edition of Evil Inc Monthly to get yet more peeps at what's in store.

I think you'll agree, it's the best Evil Inc graphic novel yet.

Who will save the Heroes?

Tuesday, September 11, 2012 - 10:50 AM

You know something I hear from my readers all the time? An awful lot of you guys love to play City of Heroes. I've played it myself, and although I never became a regular, I had a blast.

You've probably already heard that the company that owns the game, NCSoft, has announced plans to close it down.

This is a game that some folks have been playing for more than 8 years. And, understandably, they feel as if the rug is being yanked out from under them. Some of them have come to me, and now I'm coming to you.

There are a number of ways for you to get involved:

There's a petition to persuade NCSoft to simply reverse their decision to pull the plug on City of Heroes.

There's a petition to convince them to open-source the code for the game.

You can add your voice on Twitter, by commenting with a #savecoh hash tag.

And, most importantly, you can bookmark this forum, Save Paragon City, where they are doing an incredible job of organizing people who want to get involved.

Go look at that forum. You'll see threads labeled "Call to Action." Inside those threads are detailed instructions on becoming part of the movement in whichever ways you're most comfortable doing so.

Getting involved in such an organized and coordinated manner is incredibly powerful. If you want to help, go to that thread and follow their instructions.

Don't believe me? According to CNN, these things are having an effect.

"You have their attention. They are listening."

That was the the insider news regarding NCSoft, given to the virtual crowd at a player run on sever rally. Taking a page from the Occupy movements, over 2500 players logged in to 'camp' the virtual city hall, to recap the actions of the last week and show support of the game. All that was missing were the tents.

The message continues to spread and gain momentum. As the signaure count of the main petition passed 16,000, #SaveCOH became a top trender and the effort has picked up celebrety endorsements from the likes of Neil Gaiman, Mercedes Lackey and others. As this virtual experiment becomes more organized, it is no wonder this has made the heads of NCSoft turn.

All they need now is a few Evil Inc henches (my new gender-neutral form of henchman... do you like it?) to get involved. So get out there... and then come back here and tell us what you did and how it went.
