Eleven Years of Webcomics (2 comments)

Eleven Years of Webcomics

Monday, February 14, 2011 - 12:00 AM

Today marks 11 years of doing a daily comic strip for me. I've been lucky enough to make this kind of post ten times in the past, but it's always a highlight of the year for me.

For me, being a cartoonist has always been my One Thing. I never wanted to be anything else. For as long as I could remember, this was what I wanted to do with my life.

And thanks to the ability to self-publish on the Web, and thanks to the support of readers like you, I've been able to live the dreams of an eight-year-old boy for more than a decade now.

This is also an appropriate time to recognize the role my family plays in this operation. Maintaining a daily deadline takes an enormous amount of dedication -- not only from me, but from my wife.

Believe me when I tell you that there are weeks when this strip would not have made it to the site if not for her willingness to help make the time for me to work on it. She believed in this since long before there was anything to believe in.

If you're interested, last year I wrote a seven-part series about my ten years in webcomics. It starts here.

Here's to many, many more years of independent story-telling.

Hell, let's face it, we're not responsible for anything; including the things we say, do, or think. And if you sue us because you think we are? Well, we're not responsible for that either.
